I'll be completely honest: I never liked the original McLaren orange livery. Compared to other, more well-known classic liveries, it seems really tacky and not-well-thought out. But known McLaren, there's probably some deep symbolic or historical meaning behind that color combination.

I just liked how the color popped with all the grey of the speedway in that picture. Apparently, McLaren started using orange when color TV was coming out in the US so their cars would stand out. They ran it until Marlboro hit the scene in the mid 70s.
